Vintage WWll Inspired July 4th Dessert Table

Well, as most of you can tell by now...

I LOVE vintage!

Something about the eras gone by just seems to

speak to me.

When we bought our home, over 18 yrs ago now,

we searched and searched and searched because

we KNEW we wanted an older home. It needed to

be within our VERY limited price range

and not need a TON of work!

(my man is AWESOME, but that is not one of his "gifts")

We did find our "needle in a haystack" 

A beautiful 1920's Craftmans style home.

One day I hope to share that with you!

In the meantime, this will take us back for now *smile*

I have had the "concept" of this dessert table in my mind

for over a month now.

I KNEW it was to be vintage, was kind of thinking

"Americana" but the WWII idea

 just came to me one day.

I think part of my inspiration was watching the

Memorial Parade down Main St. It stirs my heart

as I watch the older men wave as they go by.

I had several uncles and my stepfather-in-law

bravely serve and am so grateful...

TRULY a special generation!

The pinwheels, rosettes and "chalk" silhouette

were made with a Cricut

and the help of my dear, generous friend Marilyn.

The picture is the dad of my dear friend

Peggy's husband who served in the Navy in WWII.

The trike belongs to another sweet friend, Rebecca,

whose dad refinished it for her as a gift when she had her little ones.

VINTAGE= TREASURED MEMORIES

These coke bottles normally reside over our front

door on the transom window's shelf.

I just LOVE these cookies...SO sweet!

Marilyn also made the BEAUTIFUL distressed fondant flags,

button cookies and pinwheel cupcake toppers.

As always I look over the pictures and think I would have

done this and that differently...

But the real "behind the scene" details,

is that it was almost 100* that day and my desserts were

melting fast and I was so hot and ready to be done!
